[UPDATED] The Concentric Impact Structures in the Paleozoic (CISP) project page

A summary of the scientific work and happenings in the Concentric Impact Structures in the Paleozoic (CISP) project during 2012 is now published on the project page.

Test drilling of the new drill rig: first cores catched

Test drilling of the new drill rig (see this story) proceeds and last Friday the first 6 m of core were catched from the Cretaceous of southern Sweden by wire line tripple tube drilling in size NQ3 at a depth of 77-83 m.

Drill rig delivered to Lund University

[UPDATED] New update of the Concentric Impact Structures in the Palaeozoic - the Lockne and Siljan craters (CISP) project page.

The project page for CISP was updated. Visit http://www.sddp.se/CISP for the project description and status.

Scientific Drilling Infrastructure

Prof. Leif Bjelm and Dr. Jan‐Erik Rosberg from the Department of Engineering Geology at Lund University have recently comissioned a Christensen surface core drilling rig, model CT20. The CT20 is a new design complying with the latest safety and environmental regulations and it has a technical capacity for diamond core drilling down to 2500 m in NQ‐size. A major part of the in‐hole equipment was delivered by Boart Longyear.

Workshop on Hydrogeological Aspects of Deep Drilling

A workshop about the hydrological aspects of Deep Drilling will be held at the Department of Earth Sciences, Uppsala University, Sweden from 20th to 22nd September 2011. Please visit the announcement on the website of the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP) (link).
